A visit to a new place can help balance our perspective, renew our gratitude and tap into our creative flow. Traveling allows us to connect with different local cultures, opening our eyes to fresh possibilities and reinvigorating our appreciation for the beautiful planet we share. Our roots at Poethique are grounded in connecting with indigenous cultures and learning from them: nature didn’t intend for our skin to be slathered with harsh chemicals and toxins and cultural beauty knowledge from around the world reflects that. From the beaches of Peru to the mountains of India here are some of the places that have helped inspire us.

Kolkata is an intellectual, artistic and cultural hotspot known for its romantic architecture, cultural festivals and vibrant food scene. There's always something to do, see, or taste in the busting streets. Once you've had your fill, switch up the pace with a visit to Darjeeling, a gorgeous mountain town nestled the Himalayan foothills. From there, you can head up into the mountains for a train, trek or glamping trip. It’s also a great base from which to explore the surrounding monasteries. The Great Barrier Reef is an ancient ecosystem that has provided an essential function to our oceans for thousands of years. But the window to save this vital natural wonder is closing fast. In recent years, a rise in ocean temperatures has caused several mass bleaching events that have impacted over fifty percent of the once vibrant reef. Conservation efforts rely on your tourism dollars to make a difference. Make sure you’re supporting ethical businesses while you’re there - mismanaged or irresponsible tourism can cause even more harm to the already delicate reef. You can help spread the word by sharing what you see on social media and with researchers who are tracking the health of the reef. Our caviar limes and wild plums in our facial serum are sustainably sourced from Australia, reflecting our commitment to protecting and preserving the environment.
Northern Peru is often overshadowed by the Machu Picchu region, which actually works to its advantage. It’s quieter, more peaceful and relatively less expensive than some of the busier areas of the country. Another must-visit is Cajamarca, a little town hidden in the mountains and celebrated by locals for its delicious cheese, chocolate, and natural hot springs. We source our sacha inchi oil from small farmers in the jungles of Peru. Legendary for it’s hydration and revitalization properties, it’s one of the main ingredients in our facial elixir.
From camping to climbing, there are tons of ways to soak up the natural beauty of Mount Kilimanjaro - Africa’s highest peak. The mountain is encircled by a forest that is home to many different species of endangered animals. You can drive through the Mount Kilimanjaro National Park, stopping off at basic or luxury campsites along the way or, if you’re into it, hike up the mountain. If you are planning to climb, make sure to time it right, do your research and go prepared. The best time to go is between late June and October and between late December and February. At other times heavy rains make the forest slippery and cover the routes to the summit in snow. Whatever you decide to do, while you’re there make sure to be respectful of the land and the animals.
