Hi Poethique Blog readers,
My name is Heather (a.k.a. @themindfulgarden) and I am excited to share with you what I carry with me in my summer skincare travel bag! It is the time of year when many of us go on summer vacations so today I thought I’d share with you what I pack:
SPF - mineral based
A sunscreen that physically protects the skin using ingredients such as Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide (they both protect the skin against UVA and UVB rays). For everyday purposes, I use a day moisturizer that has SPF built into it but for when I will be in the sun for a longer period of time, I use a dedicated sunscreen for my face and body.
Lip Balm with SPF
I carry regular lip balms but also make sure to carry one with SPF as well! I noticed that we tend to remember face and body sunscreen but we neglect our lips when it comes to sun protection.
Hydrating Toner/ Freshener/ Water
I like to take one of these to use as a toner after cleansing, to keep my skin feeling refreshed, and also to hydrate as my skin sometimes gets irritated when traveling.
Cleansing Milk (AM)
I like using gentle cleansers on my skin during the morning and I have found that my skin works best with cleansing milks! They leave my face feeling nice and clean without being overdry.
Gentle Cleanser (PM)
I also pack another gentle cleanser that is able to take off both sunscreen and makeup. I found that ones that are oil- or clay- based work best.
I prefer to just bring one moisturizer that can be used day and night just so that I can pack as little as possible. I like to go for calming and nourishing creams or a light face oil.
Eye Cream (AM/PM)
Good thing about eye creams are that they’re pretty much always TSA friendly! I currently don’t have a favorite eye cream to recommend but I always make sure to pack whatever I am testing at the time.
In general, make sure to stay hydrated and protect your skin from the sun when possible! But don’t stress about trying to stay out of the sun too much because it’s unavoidable and your trip won’t be as fun! Safe travels! Thank you for reading :)
