Are all your products natural?
Yes, our products are 100% natural. All of our ingredients are derived from plants, and there are no sulfates, parabens, phthalates, silicones, PEGS, synthetic dyes or fragrances in our products.
Do you test on animals?
No, we do not test on animals. We also require our suppliers to pledge that they do not test on animals.
We do, however, test the products constantly on ourselves! This way, we are certain that our products reflect the best ingredients, formulation processes, and indeed, the best of our efforts.
What is the shelf life of your products?
The shelf life for an unopened product is 12 months, since we do not use synthetic chemical preservatives. However, we strongly recommend that the product be used within 3-6 months of opening.
The life and efficacy of the product is helped by storing it in a cool, dry place away from sunlight.
My product has changed in color. Is this still ok to use?
Natural products can occasionally change in color, as the oils and extracts within are exposed to air, temperature changes and light. Slight changes in color are ok. However, if the product has a bad odor or become murky, it is best discarded.
To avoid rapid degradation of product, please store the product in a cool, dry place away from sunlight.
Do you recommend a regimen with your products?
While any of our products can stand on their own and be easily integrated into an existing skincare routine, we recommend the following routine for balanced, healthy and radiant skin.
Cleanse with our Deeply Cleansing Milk: Put 3-4 pumps of product on your hands. Using circular motions, massage gently onto a wet face for about 10-15 seconds. Rinse thoroughly with warm water.
Reveal radiant skin with our Radiance Boosting Serum: Squeeze out a pea-sized amount of the serum onto fingertips. Apply all over face using circular and upward sweeping motions. Avoid the eye area.
Nourish with Facial Recovery Elixir: Apply a few drops of this emerald green elixir on the face, with circular and upward sweeping motions. Avoid the eye area.
Repeat this regimen twice daily, in the morning and at night before bedtime.
Are your products safe to use around the eye?
We recommend making sure none of the products get into the eye. Please flush out with water if this does happen.
The cleanser is formulated for use all over the face, including the eye area. We would not recommend that the serum or oil be used around the eye area.
We are currently in the process of developing products for the eye area and hope to introduce these to you, very soon!
Are your products gluten-free?
Yes, our products are gluten free.
Are your products nut-free?
Our Deeply Cleansing Milk and Radiance Boosting Serum are nut-free. The Facial Recovery Elixir contains oil pressed from Sacha inchi and Tamanu nuts.
Are your products fragrance-free?
Our products do not use any artificial fragrances. However, each product does have a unique fragrance developed from distillates of botanical ingredients and/or blends of essential oils.
How do you know that all your ingredients are safe?
We research our ingredients in-depth before we even begin experimenting with them. Through our research we check papers published in peer-reviewed journals and literature local to the country of origin. Then, we cross-reference ingredients with the Environmental Working Group’s database (http://www.ewg.org/skindeep) and the Natural Product Association's (NPA) list of approved ingredients. Additionally, we work with our team to ensure that there is no clinical data in peer-reviewed journals, that suggest the ingredients could be toxic or harmful.
Can pregnant or breast-feeding women use your products?
All our products use natural ingredients. However, it is always advisable to perform a skin patch test for personal allergic reactions. Please look at the individual product pages for detailed ingredient information.
Is your packaging recyclable?
Yes, our packaging is recyclable. At Poéthique, we celebrate all that nature provides. In return, it is an integral part of our philosophy to honor our planet. We aim to do this by having as minimal an impact as possible on the environment, the ecosystem that provides our ingredients and by limiting any waste our products generate.
Our glass containers for the serum and the elixir are 100% recyclable. Glass is a better choice from a sustainability perspective as it can be recycled continuously.
The cleanser container is made of recyclable plastic #1 (PETE), which is one of the most common and highly recycled resins and most curbside programs will accept this plastic in bottle form. We are however, in the process of evaluating glass containers for the cleanser, which will lead us further along the path of sustainability, but without impacting our product cost significantly.
